Hello.... welcome to my About Me page.
I am Jacqueline Light, a qualified Counsellor and Member of British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.(MBACP).
I have my own private practice in Pyecombe and have over 20 years experience working with adults who are working towards positive change.
I am passionate about being a counselling companion alongside my clients, whilst on their personal journeys. It is a very privileged role to hold.
My core model of how I work with clients is Person-Centred Counselling. This means the client leads in the session on area's they would like to work on.
I believe clients have within themselves vast resources for self-understanding and for altering their concepts, basic attitudes and self-directed behaviour and work in a non-directive approach. I am trained as an Integrative Counsellor which means I can access a toolkit of others models outside Person-Centred to suit the client's needs. I love this way of working as it means the client's needs are at the forefront of counselling.
I believe the counselling relationship between the client and counsellor is key and important for the client to bring about change and learning.
I work within the heart of the Person-Centre therapy offering you:-
-Congruence - which means I work as myself being genuine & transparent in the sessions. This increases the likelihood that you, the client will change and grow in a constructive manner. The development of the person is the goal.
-Unconditional Positive Regard - this means I will be accepting and positive towards you wherever you are at each moment. This brings about therapeutic movement and change is more likely to occur.
-Empathy - which means I can accurately sense feelings and personal meanings that an individual client is experiencing and I will communicate this with you. I am able to be alongside you, in your world.
